Remote Learning
We use digital learning platforms often in OLS so we are, fortunately, very well equipped to deal with the challenges that the current school closure brings.
However, it is important to recognise that people have different levels of confidence when it comes to digital know-how and school. This is where we need to work together as a community - teachers, students and parents - to support each other where needed.
Another important factor to consider is that we are now using many more digital tools at a much greater frequency than usual. This means we need to be mindful of how the teaching and learning is progressing as we are navigating this new territory.
If you have queries or top tips specific to a class group, you might share these with your class and teacher on your Google Classroom. If you have overall queries or top tips about your experience of remote teaching and learning, email remotelearning@olschool.ie and we would be very interested in sharing experiences to help people figure out solutions that work for them.

You can only do the best with what you have right now: This short YouTube clip (3 min) gives some very practical tips for managing overwhelming thoughts and expectations. It was made by UCC for college students but is very relevant to LC students too. Remember you can reach out to any teacher, your form teacher, your Year Head or Guidance Counsellor if you need more support right now.

Managing Motivation: This article is written by Newcastle University but a lot of its information is relevant to 6th Year students. It offers down-to-earth suggestions for the following situations:
-
- If you need to pick up your studies again after disruption
- If you're finding it hard to concentrate, or are only able to work in short bursts
- If you'd benefit from a bit of structure to keep things going
- If you're feeling behind and overwhelmed with your studies, losing motivation
- If you really can't focus on your studies right now (This is the only bit that needs an OLS tweak – if you are struggling in this regard, you might wish to flag it with a teacher, your form teacher, your Year Head or Guidance Counsellor. Sharing this worry is a really positive step in starting to address it.)
