Commiserations to our Senior 1 hockey team who played superbly against Loreto Balbriggan in the Leinster Senior 1 Final today. They were beaten 2-1 in the final seconds of the game…a heartbreaking finish after a magnificent performance. We are very proud of their achievement in getting to the final and their performance today. Well done to the players and coaches for their hard work this season.

Congratulations to Ruby Farrelly P2 who competed in the All Ireland Schools Cross Country Championships in Belfast last weekend. Ruby had a strong performance, finishing 10th in the Intermediate girls age group. Following this result, Ruby has been selected to represent Ireland at the SIAB Schools International Cross Country Championships in Wales next weekend where she will compete in the mixed 4 x 1500m relay. 

Thank you to the Parents’ Council for a fun trivia night in St Mary’s Rugby Club and well done to E = MC Hammer who emerged victorious on the evening!

Great artwork by PI class on display to honour Saint Patrick.

At lunchtime on Friday there was a great organisation and delivery of our Saint Patrick’s Day Service by P1 on behalf of P house. The service was ably introduced and concluded by Aisling O Loughran from the Le Cheile Council.
 
Laoise Kelly our P House Captain presented Ms Byrne with a lovely bowl of shamrock on Friday to honour our Patron Saint. Dochas linn Naomh Padraig.
 
The Transition Year YSI class were in the Round Room in the Mansion House earlier this week to take part in the YSI Speak Out event. They had the opportunity to present and discuss the social issue they investigated this year, equality in sport. The girls did an excellent job representing their project, speaking confidently about their work, and the importance of their topic. They were a credit to themselves and the school. Well done to all involved.
 
Emilia Clarke (M2) is through to the semi-final of the Junior debating competition run by the Law Society students of UCD every year.
 
TYs had a wonderful and insight workshop with Edel today from the Irish Wheelchair Association on the topic of disability awareness. They gained a great insight into the different types of disabilities and the key message they took from the talk was that not every disability is visible. However, the highlight of the talk was meeting Nala, Edel’s service dog. She certainly put a lot of smiles on TY faces to finish off the week.
 
A reminder to everybody that school is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Happy St Patrick’s Day. We also look forward to Wellbeing Week next week.
