Dear Parents,
We have had an energetic and exciting first term of 2025/’26 which culminated in our Halloween celebrations today led by our 6th Years who performed ‘Thriller’ in front of the school. I am delighted to say that our students’ enthusiasm for school has translated into improved attendance, with lates decreasing 25.5% and partial absenteeism decreasing by 28% across the whole school in comparison with the same period in 2024/’25. With commitment and determination in the coming term, I know that our students’ attendance will improve even further. Our ‘Friday Finish’ is below including a link to our Autumn Newsletter.
I hope you and your families have an enjoyable mid term break,
Best wishes,
Gráinne Byrne
Principal
We had a fantastic Reading Week! Each class participated in DEAR (Drop Everything and Read), and the library was busy all week with our Student Book Swap and the exciting Mystery Book Bags. In the competitions, Luciana Walsh (M1) won the Scary Writing Competition – “Woe and Words”, while the Bookmark Competition had two winners: Greta McDonald (M1) and Olivia McWeeney (L1). The week finished with a fun Literary Book Quiz in the GPA and plenty of creative character costumes on show. Congratulations to Emily Brady and Lyra Myles in P3, who won the big prize! Well done to everyone who took part and helped make Reading Week such a success!
Green School recently hosted the Trócaire Talk, giving students a chance to learn about global issues and think about how they can make a difference.
Very best of luck to Irish rower, Maeve McLoughlin, 5th Year, competing at the U19 European Beach Sprint Championships over the midterm break which is being hosted in Cadiz, Spain and Maeve is competing in the Irish U19 Women’s double!
