Happy Spirit Day! OLS has been full of joy and cheer after all the activities we have going on!
Today Emily Brady and May Brennan helped the Librarian set up a Literary Corner in reception. This includes a display of zines from the zine club, some poems from the poetry competition winners and runner ups, and a signed copy of Michael D. Higgin’s poetry book in addition to some reflections by the students and the Librarian on his poetry.
Congrats to Emily Brady P3 who won the poetry competition with her poetry zine about a squirrel who spends their day searching for nuts only to eat them and have to start all over again. Very Wise. Emily made this zine using an as Gaeilge newspaper- lots of focail to be found in the background of this poetry zine. An-mhaith!
Congrats to Aoife Fennell who made her full debut in the Bohemians Senior Ladies team v Sligo Rovers this week.
Ava Mulhall 1B has been selected to box for Team Ireland at the upcoming Four Nations Championship in Scotland this June. This is a massive achievement and an incredible opportunity for Ava to gain valuable international boxing experience at the highest level. Ava now also has the chance to qualify for the European Championships later this year, and competing at the Four Nations Championship will provide her with invaluable experience in preparation for that opportunity. We are all very proud of Ava in OLS!
On May 7th TY students visited TUD’s Tallaght campus and took part in workshops to gain an insight into what it is like to study various disciplines in college. These workshops included Sports Science, Hospitality & Tourism, Marketing, Computing and Engineering. Thank you to all the TU Dublin staff who make the visit possible. Following the workshops the students spent some of the afternoon in Leisureplex Tallaght bowling. Well done to all the TY students who took an active part in the trip.
