We are delighted to announce that OLS has been awarded a second Green Schools Flag. The Blue Flag is awarded for increasing awareness about water conservation and how to effectively manage this important resource.
However, there was even more success in store as our efforts over the last two years were rewarded when we were nominated as a Water School of the Year! Only six schools from across the country were awarded this special honour sponsored by Uisce Éireann. Well done to the green Schools Committee, Ms Ryan and Mr Kenny and all involved for this tremendous achievement!
Students from M2 have been supporting ‘No Mow May’. They contacted Mr Walsh, our facilities manager and asked him to leave parts of our lawns uncut for the month of May.
One third of our wild bees are threatened with extinction. This is mainly because of hunger – there isn’t enough food to support them in our landscape. If all of us chose to put our lawnmowers away for one month, we could start creating a network of places where pollinators can survive and thrive.

Lucy Blessington (1st year) came 2nd in the 100m sprint. She has now also qualified for the All Ireland Schools on the 30th May. So impressive!
Well done to all of the students who started their exams this week, you are all doing so well! It is to be beautiful outside this weekend so please let yourself take a break and enjoy the sun on your face!
