On Tuesday afternoon a group of TY, 5th and 6th year students attended an information session about studying medicine and preparing for the Health Professions Admission Test (HPAT). The HPAT is an admissions test used to assist with the selection of students into medicine courses. It measures a candidate’s logical reasoning and problem solving skills, nonverbal reasoning and the ability to understand the thoughts, behaviour and/or intentions of people. It was great to welcome both Darragh and Catherine to OLS. Darragh is a 1st year medical student in UCD and Catherine is an OLS past pupil currently studying medicine in TCD. Both Darragh and Catherine gave the students great advice about preparing for the HPAT and applying to medicine. We hope this first hand information will be valuable to the students in their future applications. We wish to say a big thank you to both Darragh and Catherine and wish them well in their studies.
