On Thursday, March 6th, we had a day filled with excitement and inspiration. Firstly, the Board of Management was invited to commemorate the day with the Dome Opening Ceremony, celebrating the completion of the dome project, a testament to OLS’s dedication to fostering a culture of physical activity, sport and student well-being. The school extends its deepest gratitude to the school community and particularly the Board of Management and the Sisters of the Religious of Christian Education for their invaluable support and involvement in this project. Katie, Sports Captain, spoke on behalf of the student body and thanked the key contributors to the dome’s completion.
The morning continued with more celebration as Rachel, Head Girl, and Maria, Deputy Head Girl, hosted our International Women’s Day guests of honor. These included past pupil Anne Marie Hughes, Head of Equity, Diversity & Inclusivity at the IRFU; past pupil Ellen Walshe, double Irish Olympic swimmer and World Championship silver medalist; Charlie Murphy, 6th Year, Dublin Football Minor Captain; and Éile Caffrey, 5th Year, Dublin Minor Camogie Captain. This was a very special ceremony as the speakers shared their stories of sport, leadership, ups and downs. It was inspirational and energising!
To culminate the International Women’s Day celebrations, these four incredible women were invited to have their portraits added to the Wall of Inspiration. This honor not only recognises their achievements but also serves as a powerful reminder to inspire future generations of students. OLS could not be more proud of the achievements of its past and present pupils.
