It’s been a busy week at school getting ready for the full return of students. Well done to those who have been on the pitch already for some pre season training!
Our 6th Year prefects embraced their first leadership workshop on Wednesday with great gusto, welcoming past pupil Elizabeth Sheehan, country executive of The 30% Club (see here for more info!). It was a magnificent sharing of leadership lessons and an insight into what life might look like after school for an OLS graduate.
Over the summer lots of our students, past students and, indeed, staff were impressing us with their exploits, some of which are highlighted below (we’d love to hear of any other exciting news at admin@olschool.ie)…
LC 2025 student Charlie Murphy captained the Dublin U18 Minor Footballers to an All-Ireland Final and while they did not come away with the ultimate prize, they had an amazing season under Charlie’s leadership.
LC 2025 student, Ella O’Dell, was in action with the U20 Dublin Footballers, making it to the Leinster Final in style.
Past pupil Ellen Walshe (LC 2020), two-time Olympian competed in her first World Championship Finals in both the 200IM and 200 Butterfly, breaking both Senior Irish records along the way in a most successful Worlds meet.
Past pupil, soccer player, Joy Ralph (LC 2024) has signed a 1 year contract with Sheffield United – best of luck for this exciting chapter, Joy!
Past pupil and current school hockey coach, Caoilin Dunne (LC 2023) was in Mönchengladbach recently at the EuroHockey Youth Leadership Festival representing Hockey Ireland at the festival and reached the final, presenting her project titled ‘Bridging the hockey gap; supporting girls through key transitions’ to members of the EuroHockey Board.
Teacher and hockey coach Peter Urwin added to his umpiring CV over the summer by taking charge of 2 Senior international games between Ireland and Spain – a huge achievement and testament to his skills.
Huge congratulations to Caoimhe O’Donoghue (TY) who made the Leinster U 16 hockey squad announced recently!
