30th April 2025 by Olschool

Congratulations to Leah Vance TY4 who has been shortlisted in the Young Journalist Ireland competition for her opinion piece entitled; ‘The good, the bad and the ugly’. She will represent OLS at the national final on 13th May in the Aviva Stadium. Well done Leah – we are very proud of you and wish you the best of luck at the final.

Well done to the athletics team who competed in the West Leinster finals today. There were lots of excellent performances and personal bests. Congratulations to Sarah Kiernan who finished 2nd in the Senior 400m, Alannah Giles who finished 3rd in the Senior 400m, Ruby Farrelly who finished first in the Junior 1500m and Lucy Keely who finished 3rd in the minor 100m. Best of luck to the rest of the team competing on Thursday.

The House Spirit Day took place this Monday morning. The students had great fun and were very engaged in each activity, such as Noodle Relay, Hook a Duck, Tug Of War or Beat the intro! Well done to St Laurence’s House who came out on top of the leaderboard!

Well done to Beth O’Grady, Ella Fitzgerald, Eva O’Meara and Odette Caffrey who have followed on their recent Camogie success bringing home to Naomh Jude the Dublin Div II Football Féile Cup in a great match against Lucan Sarsfields on Sunday. The Team will now go on to represent their county in Leinster Football Féile in June.

Yesterday, two of our First Year girls’ GAA teams travelled to Ringsend to take part in the annual Scoop Cup Schools Competition. The event saw schools from across the region compete in a series of fast-paced and exciting games. Both of our teams played exceptionally well throughout the day, showing great teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship. One team had a phenomenal performance, going unbeaten in the group stages and continuing their winning streak all the way to the Cup Final, where they were crowned champions without losing a single game. Our second team also had a strong showing, progressing through their group and into the Shield Final after a series of competitive matches. Despite a valiant effort, they narrowly missed out on the shield title, but should be very proud of their performance and resilience. Congratulations to all the players involved—an excellent day of sport and a great representation of our school!
