A special message from the 3rd Year Cineáltas Champions to remind us all to look out and not always in!
During a very busy past fortnight in the school, we want to remember also that 3 of our Year 5 students became Eucharistic Ministers earlier this month. These pupils are Aisling O’ Loughran, Isabelle Lacey and Grace Brewster. They were formally commissioned by Father Pat Mc Kinley in our school Oratory. They began this ministry during the Graduation Mass for our Year 6 students. We wish them well in their own parishes in this important work.

Yesterday Pope Leo XIV’s first Encyclical Letter was published, it is 42,000 words and thinks about “Safeguarding The Human Person In The Time of Artificial Intelligence”. A chapter in this letter writes about the importance of education in times of AI:
“In a particular way, we need adults to rediscover their vocation as artisans of education, prepared to work patiently each day, with the support of extensive and shared educational partnerships. Today, accompanying children and young people in using technology for developing responsible relationships, helping them to recognize the risks and choose what fosters inner freedom, is a concrete form of charity and will safeguard their dignity. Teaching new generations that technological evolution does not follow a predetermined path, but can be guided by personal and collective responsibility, constitutes one of the most valuable services to the common good”, (p.79). It is important students learn how to think critically for, “The dignity inscribed in each of us by the Holy Spirit can also be seen in our capacity to reflect critically, choose and love freely, and form authentic relationships. No computational system, however sophisticated, can create a heart that gives itself, or a conscience that discerns good from evil”, (p.77).
