We had a very busy sporting week last week with many teams in action. Please see the Sports Round Up below for some of the results.
Our U19 Basketball team travelled to Cork on Friday to compete in the All Ireland A Final against a school from Limerick, Mungret CC. Our girls played a tremendous game showcasing great skill, teamwork and determination throughout. In a very tense finish, the teams were level with seconds to go but, alas, we were pipped by a 2-pointer just before the full time whistle, narrowly missing out on the All-Ireland title. While it felt like a heartbreaking finish for the team after such an incredible performance, we are so proud of them for their commitment during the season, preparations to get to the finals and their superb performance on the day. What a team! Congratulations to them on the phenomenal achievement of being All-Ireland finalists and runners up. You did us proud! A particular shout out to the three 6th Years on the team who have brought OLS to the highest possible level of their sport in their time in the school – Éabha Booth, Sarah Donnelly and Kate Donnelly – they leave an inspiring legacy for the future of OLS basketball. Well done to the coaching team on bringing the girls this far. Thank you also to the fabulous parents and supporters who played their part travelling down to cheer on the team!
Finally, two reminders:
- School is closed for students tomorrow, as per school calendar, to facilitate Dept of Education led staff training on Senior Cycle Redevelopment.
- The deadline for TY into 5th Year Subject Choices is Tuesday 3rd March on VSware. See some pictures below of the TY LC Subject Choice Expo which took place in St. Joseph’s Hall on Friday. Many thanks to all the 5th & 6th Year students who met with the TY students to tell them about studying the various LC subjects!
