Careers Week
Careers week is off to a fantastic start this year! Tonight we’re ready to welcome TY and 5th Year students to the OLS Career Expo from 6:30 pm to 9 pm in St. Joseph’s Hall and surrounding classrooms. The purpose of this event is to allow the students the opportunity to meet and talk to representatives from a number of different colleges of Further and Higher Education and Training/Apprenticeship opportunities to assist them in their career planning. Students also have the opportunity to meet and talk to people working and/or studying in a number of different professions and to attend a career skills workshop. Lots of our parents and past pupils volunteer to participate in the event. A big thank you to Bevin, Julie and the Parent Council for their help in running this event.
Poetry Day
Thursday, 25th April is Poetry Day! To help mark the day, the library held a poetry competition based on the theme of “good sportsmanship.” The winner was second-year student Aoibhe Tunney! Tomorrow in the GPA there will be a table set up for students to try their hand at “blackout poetry” which involves redacting words/sentences from a magazine article to create a poem. Join in and get creative! There will also be a Taylor Swift vs Shakespeare quiz available for students to try.
Camogie Success
Congratulations again to the Minor Camogie team who won their Dublin A Semi-final Monday! The girls beat St Wolstans by a scoreline of 3-11 to 0-2. They will now look to retain their title next week in the final.
