Some of the school events this week…

Today Wednesday we celebrated Le Chéile Day. The Le Chéile Catholic Schools Trust brings together a diverse group of religious congregations, but each school in the trust has a common bond. This bond is to instil in our pupils the Catholic values of service to others and developing their individual relationship with God. Today we had morning treats for our pupils and displayed the history of the various congregations on a beautiful montage.

As part of Engineers Week 2026  Lily Thorup, an OLS past pupil and TCD Graduate Mechanical Engineer, who works with SISK visited OLS on Tuesday and talked to TY and some 5th  & 6th Year students. Lily was accompanied by two colleagues, Victor O’ Shea and Layan Sulamani, who all gave the students a great insight into both studying Engineering and the careers in Engineering and Construction. Many thanks to Lily, Victor and Layan for talking with our students.

What a great debut for our School Choir at Emmanuel in the Helix Theatre on Tuesday! After intense preparation over the past number of months it all paid off on the night. Our choir were in the capable care of Ms Rainford  and Mr Stringer all day and evening on Tuesday so special thanks are due to both. We are also indebted to our Music Coach Ms Maria Stanley for her guidance and support. It was a hugely entertaining and inspiring performance. No wonder our OLS Choir is already looking forward to Emmanuel 2027!

The Leaving Certificate Applied class had a visit from past teacher Ms. O’Brien on Tuesday afternoon. The students prepared some questions for discussion on the topic of Preparation for Parenthood, which is a part of their studies for Childcare and Community Care. Ms. O’Brien shared lots of interesting information and the class enjoyed an enlightening conversation on different aspects of antenatal care in Ireland. We are very grateful to Ms. O’Brien for giving her valuable time to visit the class. An enjoyable afternoon was had by all!

In sporting news…

Well done to our Minor Camogie team who made it 2 wins from 2 in the Minor A Dublin Championship. The girls have now qualified for the knockout stage with a win against MacDaras.

Both the Minor and Junior Basketball teams have made the Leinster play offs next week!

Commiserations to the Junior 1 hockey team drawing 1-1 at full time against Holy Child Killiney in the Cup Semi-final but unfortunately losing 3-2 on a penalty shoot out! The girls had a great year this year and showed fantastic progress competing with the top teams all year.

Well done to the Minor 1 hockey team who have reached the final of their league! They play Newpark on Thursday tomorrow at 11.30. We wish them the best of luck with their game!

The U14 Gaelic team had a fantastic win in their opening league game against St. Paul’s, coming away with a victory. It was a brilliant team performance, with great teamwork and work rate shown by all the girls throughout the match. We had a number of scorers on the day, with Harlow Tallon contributing some excellent scores. Overall, it was a very strong start to the season and a great effort from the entire panel.

Well done to Ruby Farrelly who came 3rd in the Leinster Schools Cross Country last week. She will now go on to represent Our Lady’s in the All Ireland Schools Cross Country this Saturday in Belfast. Best of luck, Ruby!

In other news…

Congratulations to playwright May Brennan (B3) on the showing of her pay ‘Eternal Hope’ in the Abbey Theatre recently! What an achievement!

Please see the attached poster regarding the Bake Sale on Friday in aid of Kiboko Primary School in Kenya, where some of our 5th and TY students will be visiting in June.

Don’t forget €2 in aid of Peta House for tomorrow’s Rincethon!
