Emilia Clarke in 2nd year competed in the UCD Junior debating competition and progressed all the way to the semi finals, which took place last week March 18th. She did not get through to the final but it was such an achievement to get that far.

Congratulations to Sadhbh King, TY5, who was shortlisted into the top 5 in a National TY Short Story Competition. Sadhbh will receive a prize for her fantastic story ‘Nick of Time’ and she will represent OLS at the awards ceremony in April. Well done Sadhbh!

Last Thursday, the LCA class visited the Mill Theatre for a comic journey inside the teenage mind. They thoroughly enjoyed this stand-up comedy performance by Ger Carey. It was a fantastic day out celebrating Wellbeing Week while also engaging with the arts.

The Teaching and Learning Student Focus Group led by Ms Doran, presented their research at our Staff Meeting on Monday on how students learn best in our school. Our students from 1st, 2nd & 5th Year, spoke articulately about the benefits of active learning which forms an important focus of our School Self Evaluation. Well done to the group and thank you to Ms Doran.

Well done to our Minor Camogie team who made it 3 wins from 3 in the Dublin A Championship. The girls defeated a very strong Maynooth team by 5-7 to 2-2. They will now progress as group winners in to the semi finals against Loreto Beaufort.

Well done to Ms. Collins’  LCA class group who attended Mass at Saint Pius Church on Tuesday morning. Afterwards they listened to a presentation from Parish Priest Father Pat McKinlay about his own faith and the faith community of Saint Pius. The LCA group had a number of insightful questions for Father Pat. It was a very worthwhile morning.

Our TYs practised preparing bandages as part of a First Aid course, this is a very useful practical skill they have learnt.

Today we had our Easter Ceremony. There were lots of lovely readings from students and beautiful singing from the choir. It was a wonderful ceremony.
