OLS embraced a wonderful Friendship Week!
On Tuesday, in response to the Make Space focus of our Bí Cineálta action plan, all students gathered to form a human friendship bracelet (click here). Yesterday, Saibh Skelly performed for all our students, playing music and talking to the girls with a focus on human connection and support. Thank you to her for this special experience. During this week and next, all students are spending time in SPHE class focussing on the importance of making space for others to join in (see attached slides).
Our 5th Years and TYs enjoyed some fantastic days off site this week. On Monday, the 5th Years went on a wonderful retreat in Glendalough. Congratulations to our resilient 5th Years for braving the heavy rain!
The TYs had a great time on their first Development Day of the year. Some groups learned first aid and self-defence skills, while others explored Dublin—visiting the Little Museum of Dublin, EPIC, the Seamus Heaney exhibition, various churches, and the zoo.
The Amber Flag group has updated the community tree to include all classes in the school this year.
We were delighted to play our first competitive basketball matches in the Dome this week, with both the U19s and U16s taking on Mt. Sackville. Both teams came away with wins. With new coaches, Mr. Whitmore and Mr. Andabaca, a fantastic facility, and strong numbers in the junior ranks, this was the perfect start to the rebirth of OLS Basketball in the A Division. Top scorers for the U19s were Eabha Booth and Amy McCarthy, while for the U16s, it was Caoimhe Corrigan and Molly O’Neill. The next league game is away at Coláiste Chiaráin in two weeks.
